Life plans. November 12, 2006

Filed under: Uncategorized — Annette @ 6:05 pm

So, like Desiree (are we leading parallel lives??), I’ve recently been working on my plans for my life.  Registering for classes for next semester was part of it, and also figuring out what I’m going to have to take next fall and over the summer to be able to graduate in December 07.

Right now I’m hoping to take a graduate-level physiology course over the summer.  I could take it here over the summer, but I really don’t want to be here over the summer.  I spent a good chunk of my day looking for an online/correspondence graduate physiology course, and you know, it was really really difficult.  I finally found one through the UT system (offered through UT-Permian Basin and UT-Tyler…imagine that) that looks good.  It’s a Master’s level exercise physiology class, which sounds even more interesting than a regular physiology class.  There are still a lot of things I have to check into regarding this class, but the moral of the story is that it looks like I would be able to take physiology over the summer and get that knocked out so I can graduate early.

The whole purpose of taking it online or by correspondence would be so that I could move to Missouri for the summer to be with Charlie (this is where the parallel lives comes in).  I think it would be really good for us to…you know, actually be able to spend time together…in person?  Amazing dating concept, I know.  I crunched some numbers last night and determined that as long as I get a full-time job that pays me at least $10/hr (but I’m certainly hoping for more :)), I would be able to afford paying rent on two apartments, paying for my course and living down there.  I’m really excited about the idea.  But there are a lot of things which would have to fall into place for it work, namely, I would need to find a job.  I did some job hunting last night and didn’t come up with a whole lot, but I at least have a better idea of where to look now.  Knowing very little about Columbia and how the city works makes it difficult to know where to look for an appropriate job.  And plus, it’s November, and I’m talking about looking for a job for June.  So…hopefully something will turn up between now and then.

Anyway, that’s my deal.  I feel like I revamp my life plans every couple weeks.  If anyone has any ideas where I can look for jobs, I’d appreciate suggestions. 🙂

can you score something in terms of an “advanced internship” that should be at least 10 bucks/hr…not sure what Mizzou has in terms of departments, but certainly someone needs help over the summer

That seems like the most obvious solution; I don’t know why I didn’t think of it. I will definitely look into it. Thanks, Ryan! 🙂

I have a friend who tutors athletes at Mizzou. I think they make at least $10/hour. You probably know him or his wife. Shoot me an email if you want his contact info.

Thanks, Mike. I’ll check into it.
